Audiosurf 2 (formerly Audiosurf Air) is a music score attack videogame developed by Dylan Fitterer. It is available exclusively for PC and is the sequel to the original Audiosurf. This title brings new modes and improvements, such as the ability to download and install custom themes easily, and a Wakeboard mode that allows the player to distort songs. This title was launched through Steam Early Access so players can follow the development process as they play Beta versions of the software.
The gameplay mechanics remain the same for the classic game modes: you have to collect blocks of the same color and create clusters of three or more of the same color to earn points. The more blocks accumulated in the same cluster, the more points you score. You can also get bonus points at the end of the track if you finish the song with no blocks left in your grid.
Audiosurf 2 offers an original way to play your favorite music. In the classic modes you are inside a vehicle similar to those seen in Wipeout. You have to control this vehicle as it travels through a colorful highway, which is accurately generated according to the beat of the song you've chosen. Audiosurf 2 uses complex algorithms to create these highways: when the music is quiet the highway goes uphill until the chorus or another fast-paced verse kicks in, making it go downhill and dramatically increasing the speed of your vehicle. Blocks appear coinciding with the notes played in the song, so if you know the rhythm, you can predict them appearing.

This title keeps classic modes such as “Mono”, in which you have to collect blocks (regardless of their color) as you avoid grey blocks to keep your score multipliers high. New modes such as Wakeboard and Audiospring let you use two boats that tug your character along, giving you opportunities to jump and pull off tricks as the song is playing in order to earn points. Additionally, Audiospring enables multiplayer mode for up to four players locally. The game supports Steam Workshop, which means that users are free to create their own content for Audiosurf 2. Moreover, you can download custom themes from the client and install them right away.
